Hi! I'm Megan. I am running for Vice President of the Malmstrom Spouses Club. I am a type-A elementary school teacher who loves to read and be outdoors.
I am interested in serving on the board for the Malmstrom Spouses Club because this club has truly changed my experience with spouses clubs and I want to be able to extend that to others who may have felt the same way about the spouses club in the past. I have found great purpose and drive during my time with the club this year and I want to help continue the legacy that the club has built.
My strengths that I believe would be beneficial to the club, especially in this position, is that I am organized, driven, high-achieving, friendly, and outgoing. Because of my role as an elementary educator, I am accustomed to meeting the needs of a group of diverse people while also maintaining good relations even when the situation may be less than ideal. I pride myself in being professional and personable.
I believe that I can motivate and engage members and volunteers through my positive attitude and relationship with them. When people have support and feel appreciated, they are more likely to continue helping and participating. By creating a positive, structured environment, people will be more likely to engage when they feel that the organization is secure and successful. Their success is the club's success.
I am absolutely available for meetings, events, and committees that the club may need from me. In my position as Secretary, I have only missed meetings due to illness. Being that I am a planner and organizer, I believe that I can accommodate my life and needs to make sure that the needs of the club are met.
Engagement and service with the Malmstrom AFB community has been excellent with the current board. I think that continuing their efforts into this coming year will only help to increase and grow our membership and involvement with the community. In addition, I think that it would be great to have a specific route to take for feedback from members or non-members similar to the ICE comments that the base uses. I know that there are routes and openings for community members to reach the board and ask questions, but the current trend is to be able to send a text or post anonymously to share feedback. Having a QR code posted or a link to something similar might give us an opportunity to receive feedback at large without the community member feeling pressure in engaging constructive criticism.
My top three goals for the Club in the coming year would be:
1. To serve the spouses of the Malmstrom Spouses Club to the extent that would benefit them most.
2. To increase participation in club activities.
3. To increase potential revenue for charitable giving and scholarships.
In the event that club membership or participation declines, I would want to hear from the members to find out why. In order for a problem to be addressed, it is best to find the root source of the issue and go from there. By being a positive member of the club and having a board that people can find reliability and trust in, it is easier for others to be honest and work together to find solutions. No one person can fix a decline in morale and engagement; it is up to the team to work together to find the club's success.
I believe that my personality works well with the role of the Vice President. I am, by nature, a helper and seek out opportunities to support others in their goals. As an educator, I have experience in helping boost others to reach their goals and recognize the leadership skills that it takes to do so. I am most comfortable in supportive leadership roles, but am able to step up and take charge if the need arises. I have trust in the committees and membership to elect the best candidate for president and my goal is to support them in what they need to be successful.

I have been privileged to watch the current Vice President in her role this year and have seen how she has helped and supported those around her. She has been a fantastic example and role model for what a good Vice President is. I hope to be able to continue the growth and support that she has provided the members of the club.

I would love to take on the mini clubs and encourage recruitment and engagement in those as that is a great way for spouses here to meet others and build their community. I would also like to take on membership and visibility for the club. By being at events held on base in an official capacity and highlighting the wonderful things that the club does for the community, not just the spouses, will help with the membership growth and engagement.
Thank you for the opportunity to be considered for the role of Vice President for the Malmstrom Spouses Club and for taking the time to read through my qualifications and vision for the future of the club.
